The Math

What Payment Freedom actually saves you.

Real ranges from real Aireus operators who renegotiated their processor rates without switching POS. Numbers vary by volume, current effective rate, and processor — these are the conservative bands we see in practice.

Small Bar / Single Restaurant
$2K–$8K
Saved Per Year

One bar, one location.

A 20-basis-point reduction on $1M–$4M annual card volume. Compounds every year, every renewal.

Full-Service Restaurant
$10K–$40K
Saved Per Year

Full-service, mid-volume.

A 15–25 basis-point reduction on $4M–$20M annual card volume. Easy to negotiate with two competing processors at the table.

Multi-Outlet Hotel / Resort
$20K–$80K
Saved Per Year

Hotel groups, resorts.

Negotiating leverage across multiple outlets. 10–20 bps on $20M–$80M consolidated card volume. The hidden margin most operators leave on the table.

Aireus takes zero cut of your processing. Your money flows direct from your processor to your bank. We make money on the POS subscription — never on the swipe.
How The Industry Actually Works

Most POS vendors choose your processor for you. We don't.

The dirty secret of modern restaurant POS — the box on your counter is often just a way to get you on the vendor's payment rails. Aireus is the exception.

Vendor-locked POS
Most cloud POS platforms force you onto their own payments product. The vendor sets your rate. You don't shop. You don't switch without switching your entire POS.
→ Locked In
Processor-owned POS
Some POS hardware is owned by a payment processor. The hardware is simply an on-ramp to their payment stack. You inherit their rates and their rules.
→ Locked In
"Default" payments POS
A few platforms make their payments product technically optional — but the discount structure pushes you in, and the off-ramp costs you margin every month.

How Modern Hospitality Pays

Pay-at-table, QR receipts, text-to-pay — without slowing service.

01

Pay-at-Table. The card never leaves the guest's hand.

Server brings the Ingenico (or iPad with clip-on Moby reader) to the table. Guest taps, dips, or signs on the spot. Faster turn, better tip rates, no walking the card to the counter — and no risk of the wrong table getting charged.

02

QR code on the receipt. Guest pays from their phone.

Print a QR code on the receipt. Guest scans with their phone, pays with Apple Pay or Google Pay, leaves whenever they want. No server interaction required for the payment step — frees the floor.

03

Text-to-Pay. For the no-receipt era.

Server texts the guest a secure payment link from the iPad. Guest pays in two taps from their cell. Perfect for hotel folio settlements, room service, or quick pickup orders where the guest never sees a receipt.

The Question Your Processor Hopes You Don't Ask

Most POS cannot actually process card payments offline.

When the internet drops, most operators discover their POS only takes cash. Aireus Payment Freedom means you can choose a processor that actually supports store-and-forward — and pair it with cellular failover that keeps the connection up in the first place.

Customer · Multi-Outlet Hotel
"We renegotiated our processor eleven months in. Saved roughly $34K a year. Aireus did not care which processor we chose — that is exactly the point."

Compliance & Security

What your CFO actually cares about.

EMV. PCI. Apple's enterprise security model. Three things that quietly remove cost, risk, and audit overhead from your operation.

Cost Reduction

PCI scope reduction.

End-to-end encryption from terminal to processor. Card data never touches your network unencrypted. Reduces your PCI audit scope — and your annual audit cost.

→ Lower audit fees
Risk Reduction

Fraud liability stays with the issuer.

Full EMV chip-card support — fraud liability sits with the card issuer where it belongs, not on your business. The 2015 EMV shift, finally working the way it was designed to.

→ Less chargeback exposure
Architecture

Tokenized stored payments.

Guest cards on file — for hotel folios or repeat orders — are tokenized. The real card number never sits in your system. If your data is ever exposed, the cards aren't.

→ Breach-resistant by design
Common Questions

What every operator asks before signing.

Will my existing processor rate be honored?

Yes. Aireus does not set your rate. Whatever you have negotiated with your processor stays with you. Bring it. Improve it. Aireus is processor-agnostic.

Can I switch processors later without switching POS?

Yes. That is the entire point of Payment Freedom. Renegotiate at renewal, switch to a competing processor for a better rate, keep running Aireus the whole time. The POS does not change. The bank deposit just goes through a different rail.

Does Aireus take a cut of my processing?

No. Aireus earns its revenue on the POS subscription — never on the swipe. The processor charges you direct. The money moves direct. Aireus is not in the middle.

Who handles chargebacks?

Your processor. That is normal — Aireus is not a payment processor or merchant of record. Your processor's chargeback team is who you call.

What if my processor goes down?

This is the question most operators forget to ask. Choose a processor that supports store-and-forward (offline transactions) and pair it with cellular failover. See the Continuity story for the full architecture.

Is the PCI scope reduction real, or is it marketing?

Real. End-to-end encryption means raw card data never decrypts inside your network. Your QSA will confirm that this materially reduces your PCI audit scope — and most operators see audit cost drop in year one.
